HANDICAPS:
a) SINGLES: Playing Handicaps apply (ie. 95% of Course Handicaps) with the higher handicapper receiving the nett differential number of shots off the lower handicapper; and
b) PAIRS: Playing handicaps apply (90% of Course Handicap) with the lowest handicapper of the 4 ball then playing off zero and the other 3 players receiving their nett differential number of shots.
Matches to be played on any weekday, Monday to Friday.
Matches may be played on weekends and bank holidays BUT ONLY by agreement of both players or both pairs).
-
ARRANGEMENT OF MATCHES:
The first named player for any match shall be responsible for making the initial contact with the other player/pair as soon as possible after the start date of the relevant round. He (and on behalf of his partner in the pairs competition) shall offer 3 alternative Monday-Friday dates to the 2nd named player/other pair. These should not all be within the same week and must all be prior to, or on, the deadline date.
If those dates are not acceptable to the Opponent(s), then the Opponent(s) must propose reasonable alternatives ASAP. Both players/pairs must attempt to find a mutually agreeable date within the deadline.
-
Matches MUST be played by the round deadline date.
-
Each match must be played by the round deadline date AND the winner/winning pair is responsible for advising the result to BOTH Martyn AND Robin by text or e-mail ASAP and in any event by the round deadline date.
-
In the event of a match not being arranged or played by the round deadline date, the 2 players/pairs should toss a coin or otherwise agree between themselves who should proceed to the next round. Such result or decision should be advised to BOTH Martyn AND Robin by the round deadline date.
In the case of any unresolved disagreement over match date(s) and/or a disputed result, the player(s) should each notify the Organiser (Martyn) for resolution.
-
Failure to comply with Rule 5. a) and/or b) shall put both players/pairs at risk of disqualification by the Organiser. The Organiser shall notify the relevant player(s) in the event of actual disqualification.
-
Any player disqualified under Rule 5. c) may appeal in accordance with Rule 6.
-
APPEALS:
-
A player or pair disqualified under Rule 5. c) may make an appeal to the Organiser within 24 hours of being notified of such disqualification.
-
The Organiser will immediately refer such appeal to the Appeals Committee. The Appeals Committee shall consist of 3 people: the Website Manager, the HOGGS Captain and Past Captain.
-
The Appeals Committee shall consider the full range of evidence, any extenuating circumstances and consult with the relevant players and the Organiser as they deem necessary.
-
The Appeals Committee’s decision will be final and communicated to the players/pairs involved ASAP.
-
TIED MATCHES & Play-Off Procedure:
-
If a match is tied after 18 holes, the players/pairs should play additional sudden death holes starting on the 1st hole and proceeding in course order. Net shot differential will be received by the higher handicap player/pair on exactly the same holes as in the match itself, as per Rule 2 above.
-
Such play-off may proceed ONLY if the first tee is clear and available for play (which MUST first be checked with the pro-shop). Players/pairs MUST NOT push in on scheduled tee times on the first tee.
-
IF the first tee is not available for immediate play OR if both players/pairs agree: the play-off may be arranged for either later that day or on another day within the round deadline date.
-
IF one player/pair is unable to proceed under Rules 7. a) to c) , then that player/pair should concede the match. IF neither player/pair is able to proceed under Rules 7 a) to c) then they may toss a coin to decide the result or otherwise agree who should go forward into the next round and notify the Organiser accordingly.
:
-
DISPUTES IN PLAY:
-
In the event of any unresolved golf rules dispute between players/pairs during a match, players/pairs MUST play the remaining holes with the 2 alternative results in mind. On completing their match they should immediately consult with the Organiser for a final,
-
definitive ruling which shall comply with R&A Rules to their best interpretation. The Organiser may consult with the Appeals Committee if this is considered necessary to reach the best-informed, correct decision.
-
If a disagreement or dispute is resolved between the players/pairs on the course and they proceed with the match-score on that basis only, this decision will prevail in accordance with R&A matchplay rules, even if subsequently it is proved to have been the wrong decision. There can be NO subsequent appeal in such circumstances.
